One Direction hottie Zayn Malik is in hot water after he posted a tweet that backfired.
On Sunday, Malik tweeted “#FreePalestine” as violence began to escalate between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The tweet, which is still on the singers account was retweeted more than 150,000 times and is receiving backlash from his 13 million followers. Malik’s tweet made fans so angry that they started making death threats toward the singer.
One fan wrote, “Zayn should (not) say what he said I mean if we’re such a terrorists like he said why wouldn’t we kill him for saying that huh (sic).”
Earlier this month, Rihanna and basketball player Dwight Howard tweeted the same thing, however, they both later deleted their pro-Palestine statements. Malik’s message remains up on his Twitter page and he has yet to make a comment on the tweet.
