Colin Farrell has confirmed to Ireland’s The Sunday’s World that he will play a detective on the HBO series, True Detective, stating:

“I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited. . . I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.”

In addition to this news, two other actors, Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn, are rumored to be joining the show. Kitsch might play a detective investing a murder of a corrupted businessman and Vaughn will play a shady businessman.

Elisabeth Moss was rumored to play a female lead but there are other actresses in the running: Jessica Biel, Brit Marling, Oona Chaplin, Kelly Reilly, Malin Ackerman, Jaime Alexander, and Rosario Dawson.
